Ski touring introduction – course summary

The Chamonix area, with its dramatic scenery and numerous ski tour routes for all levels, offers the perfect training ground for those new to this alpine activity. Mountain Adventure Guides’ introductory ski touring course is designed for competent skiers with some off-piste experience who would like to explore skiing opportunities away from defined ski areas.

Ski touring – is it for me?

This course is designed for adventurous skiers with some off-piste experience wanting to get away from the busy pistes and more frequented off-piste runs. We love to ski so we choose tours offering the best descents on the day! Remember ski touring involves going up! Be prepared for one to two hours of climbing on skins, though some days will may have longer climbs. Throughout the week we will be teaching you the techniques involved for touring, including skinning techniques, avalanche awareness, use of transceivers, crevasse rescue as well as ski techniques and strategies for different snow conditions.

We prefer to run a five or six day course to enable you to get to grips with all the skills you need take advantage of the amazing ski touring opportunities in the Chamonix area. However if time is limited, fewer days can be booked.
